Together, they create monumental murals around the world, exploring the concepts of cultural heritage and emotional reference. Jomad is a Caribbean-French portrait artist originally from Martinique. She began her artistic journey in 2006 with graffiti lettering, before going on to study fine arts, architecture and engineering. Jomad’s painting is an exploration of the world as a collection of conscious creations, where every object, every detail—from combs and buttons to streets and building facades—embodies a creative essence. This approach imbues her work with a dynamic tension between the past, present and future, as she contemplates how these objects and experiences shape our understanding of life. Her most recent series, Flowers, captures this energy, focusing on large-scale paintings of figures enveloped in monumental flowers. Each work in this series addresses themes of introspection, peace and community harmony, inviting the viewer to reflect on how these moments of calm are maintained in the environment around them. Andrew Agutos, Filipino-American born in California who studied Fine Art, is a multidisciplinary artist taking a poetic approach between abstract and figurative—non-chronologically creating series of paintings that capture the energy and essence of the personal and the universal. Often titled with poems, his works form an introspective visual / written library recording depths of human emotion and snapshots of cool, connecting the dots between dreams, design, desire, cities, love, luxury. Unbound by a singular style or medium, Andrew’s practice communicates through a distinct language of color with nods to art history, the internet, rap music and fashion. Having an affinity for iconic imagery, he has designed and photographed for several fashion brands and figures—work that directly informs his painting and visual storytelling. The mural proposed for the social housing building in Paris's 11th arrondissement is part of an initiative to enhance residents' living space. It highlights the themes of greenery, calm and solidarity, in line with the wishes expressed by residents. The composition is centered around a lush garden, a symbol of peace and well-being, and scenes of community life illustrating gestures of closeness and conviviality. Residents of all generations are depicted sharing moments together—an exchange, a hug, a conversation, an offering of flowers—emphasizing the importance of social ties and living together. This mural opens a door to a place of peace, where greenery flourishes, where eyes meet and gestures are extended. This living tableau is an invitation: to slow down, to breathe, to smile at those we meet. Millet is a family-run business producing several types of armagnac, wines and ciders. Painted for STREET’ART’MAGNAC Festival 2021, we explore the contrasts of life as it pertains to having a taste for the occasional glass. With the giggles of close young friends on the left, we evoke the exhilaration of life, the joy of living and the carefree spirit of this friendly moment, like a good memory they’ll be recounting in a few years’ time. The framing is closer to the viewer, more intimate. The language is accessible, uninhibited and of course, funny. On the other hand, we have an homage of Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks, which evokes the nocturnal atmosphere of the bar and the more mysterious experience between adults. Time seems frozen, recalling a more serious side and another form of social interaction. The piece features two central figures: one is a reinterpretation of The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli, with Venus’ flowing red hair and serene expression. The second figure, a modern interpretation, depicts a Black woman in a classical pose wearing an off-the-shoulder gown—traces of Botticelli’s portrait casting a distorted image on the woman as if being covered by the light of a projection. With the juxtaposition of these figures, we create a dialogue between traditional European ideals of beauty and contemporary expressions of identity, emphasizing diversity and inclusion. Viewable from the highway in Paris, we wanted to depict both a celebration of classical art and a challenge to reframe beauty standards through the lens of cultural diversity. Inspired directly by the colors and community of this diverse South American region, French Guiana is a land of welcome, bringing together Creole, Indigenous, Bushinengué, Brazilian and Hmong populations and many more.
